Momcat this morning at dawn in Wallingford, CT.
Michelle messaged as follows,
following my message to her regarding
my plans to go vegan and write this series,
MOMCAT'S VEGAN PROJECT:
Momcat approaches her bowl of Friskies' pate wet food.
"Good for you Steve. My only caution is that you remember
your dog(s) (& cats) need to eat meat.
They can become gravely ill without it.
Otherwise, good luck!"
Momcat observes the scene carefully as I open a can of Friskies.
A morning goat forya.
Animals on farms live lives of quiet desperation.
They are bored to death or even worse.
A Shepherd of sorts, manipulating some steers for profit.
My higher power is Unconditional Love, God, Jesus.
The Father, Son and Holy Spirit.
He was born in December, too, like me.
He was born while "Shepherds kept their
watch on wild flocks by night."
Some incarcerated pigs, very intelligent and emotional animals-great pets.
The three wise men were Shepherds.
When the humble Christ child was born
there was no room at the inn.
They abandoned their profit-making endeavor-
of watching and manipulating their flocks--
that blessed first Christmas eve.
Jesus forordained that His pal St. Pete would deny Him 3 times before
the rooster would crow the night He was handed over
to suffering and death. The night of the genuine Passion of the Christ.
Not the Hollywood phenomenon which was Mel Gibson's
film venture.
They left their flocks to roam the countryside
free and clear that Christmas night
without human interference
so that they could follow a really bright star
and maybe get to see Mary, Joseph and
Jesus the night
that He was born, homeless and in a manger
made for animals,

born in a pile of straw made for animals
that were domesticated and raised for
profit.
Later in life, Jesus got really ticked-off
when He saw people trading animals for
cash in His church, the Synagogue in Jerusalem
+ he flipped tables and what-not
saying that they had turned
His home into a "Den of Thieves."
Jesus was not a happy camper
that day at all when they were
selling innocent critters
on His property, Church.

We've all heard the horror stories
about what those little "veal-guys'" tragic lives
are really like. Living in tiny crates so
they can't budge until they're
finally slaughtered makes 'em tender and tasty.
I love the taste of Veal Parmesan.
Many animals think + feel emotion + pain. The Time
Magazine cover story for August 16th 2010 features a beautiful
black pug with his head tilted as above, also thinking
just like this donkey is, and is entitled
"What Animals Think."
Well worth the 15 minutes of your Time.
The incumbent and awesome President of the
Association of Pet Dog Trainers
Michelle Douglas,
sent a message
yesterday.

Please, readers be aware that Michelle's point is a valid one and an important one. Very important.
Cats and dogs are omnivores, carnivores by nature, really.
They require meat to live.
The species, homo sapiens does NOT.
I will live well without meat.
Momcat, Meow, Bluebelle, and
Augie could not do so as
well, and to make a
project of their
diet
given
my
limited
knowledge and training would be foolhardy, selfish,
neglectful and even abusive, in my book.
Meow keeps an eye on things this morning as Momcat prepares to eat.
MOMCAT'S VEGAN PROJECT is to help me
stay motivated in my endeavor to
not eat, nor wear birds, fishes, mammals,
etc.
Augie + Bluebelle relaxing together at our old house in West Haven, CT.
So fear NOT Augie, Bluebelle, Meow + Momcat!
Fear NOT readers!
Fear NOT Michelle!
You shall continue eating meats and stuff
as usual.
But,
not
I!
Shortly, medical matters permitting,
I shall no longer be dependent
upon birds, mammals, reptiles,
amphibians, fishes,
etc. for my convenience
nor sustenance.
This is
my
goal.

Another poor guy, "framed" through no fault of his own.
So my lovely pet family members
will continue eating happy
and healthy dog food,
cat food, meat
and what-not.
I'll eat well, too.
Just no
meat or
meat by-products
to eat
or
wear.

pray.
